Are PetSmart vets good?

Some vets are good and some aren’t. We’ve got a few tips to help you find the right one for your pets.

Vets that are board certified have gone through a process where they have to pass multiple exams and complete courses on a certain topic. This means that the vet is knowledgeable about the subject matter and can give you the best possible advice based on their knowledge.

Veterinarians should be able to answer your questions honestly and thoroughly. They should be able to explain why they recommend one treatment over another, and they should have the credentials and experience to back up their recommendations.

A vet who only recommends one thing is probably not as experienced or knowledgeable as a vet who can help you choose the right treatment for your pet’s condition.

Veterinarians should also be able to give you advice on how to keep your pet healthy and happy throughout their life.

PetSmart vet hours

We contacted numerous PetSmart locations around the country to find out their hours of operation. Although each clinic is run independently and may have individual hours, we found that most PetSmart locations are open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with veterinary hours running from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In some areas, these clinics also offer Sunday hours; however, several locations we spoke with did not offer Sunday service at all.

These hours may vary by location and during the holidays, so you should call ahead to make sure your local store has the same hours listed above before visiting it on Sunday or after closing time on Saturday night.

Is Banfield separate from PetSmart?

PetSmart does not own Banfield or operate any of its clinics. Instead, Banfield operates independently as its own business entity, although it does provide services through the PetSmart stores.

PetSmart has partnered with Banfield for decades to provide in-store veterinary care. Banfield operates more than 800 clinics inside PetSmart locations.

So why are Banfield clinic prices so much higher than at other veterinary providers? The answer lies in the quality of service that you receive from Banfield veterinarians.

Banfield veterinarians undergo more than 1,000 hours of additional training beyond what traditional veterinarians receive. This additional education and experience help them provide timely and accurate diagnoses for pets with serious illnesses or injuries.

Additionally, the Banfield clinics offer comprehensive care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. When your pet needs to be seen immediately, you don’t have to wait until regular business hours or take time off work to visit an emergency veterinarian.

Can you walk into Banfield?

While they always recommend calling ahead to make an appointment, you can walk in at any of their vet clinic locations. If you need immediate assistance helping your pet, please come in right away.

Petsmart vet appointment

Petsmart stores do not have in-room appointment options.

A phone call with your vet will ensure that your pet is up-to-date on vaccinations and other medical care that might be needed.

In case of a life-threatening emergency, please call your local emergency hospital for help. Petsmart does not offer a 24-hour emergency hospital.

Positive reviews of vet clinic at PetSmart

“I’m very happy with the care my dogs receive at the Petsmart vet clinic. I have a 6-year-old Lab and a 14-year-old Bichon, both of whom have had routine checkups, as well as surgery and in-patient hospitalization. The staff is very friendly and approachable. My dogs have always received good care, and I like that they are creatures of habit and always use the same staff members. They obviously love animals and treat them with respect and gentleness. The price is fair compared to other vets in our area. We will continue to take our pets there.”

“I’ve been taking my dogs to the PetSmart vet clinic for their annual checkups for a few years now and it’s always been a great experience. The vets are very friendly and kind, and I never feel pressured to buy any additional services or products. My dogs are always treated very kindly and gently, never like they’re just animals. The prices are also reasonable. I feel like I’m getting good value for my money here. It’s generally pretty easy to get an appointment when you need one, but be prepared to wait if you show up without an appointment. The wait times can be quite long at peak times, even if your pet seems sick or injured. It’s usually best to call ahead of time to make sure you get an appointment as early as possible. Also be aware that this is not an emergency clinic, so if your pet is having a medical emergency outside of office hours, you’ll have to go to the emergency clinic instead.”

“I’ve been bringing my pets here for years. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. My favorite thing about coming here is the ease of making appointments online or with the app. I never have to wait on hold or talk with a rude customer service person just to make an appointment. They are also very good about sending me reminders and information about the services I am interested in so I can be prepared.”

“I’ve been a PetSmart customer for years and I’ve always had great experiences with their vets. The vets at PetSmart in my area are all very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions that I have. They take the time to explain things in detail and use terms that are easy for me to understand. PetSmart offers a variety of services, including checkups, vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures and more. The prices are fair and comparable to other veterinary clinics around town. The staff is friendly and professional at all times. I couldn’t ask for a better place to bring my pets!”

“The staff at the vet clinic are extremely nice and professional, but sometimes not very knowledgeable in certain areas (they had my pet for an hour for something as simple as getting her nails clipped). The experience was much more expensive than I expected it to be, but my dog was happy when we got home so that’s what matters most!”
